I have to admit that when I went back to work after having my little boy, it was simply about earning the money to pay the mortgage. Necessity and not choice. But balancing values and priorities is a journey which requires attention, time and energy to ensure peace of mind and wellbeing. The pandemic was a huge shock on so many levels that it forced me to re-evaluate how and where I spend my working life.
Covid was unforeseeable and those few years was very hard for my family. As well as dealing with the unknown, isolation and loneliness that came with isolating, we had a toddler who needed entertaining and was missing out on the social interactions, potentially impacting his ability to develop emotionally and behaviourally. We also experienced devastating heartbreak as we lost four pregnancies. When the world started to open up, I was clear that I wanted to work for an organisation with greater flexibility in the workplace. I considered my work-home balance preferences. What was negotiable and what wasn’t. A good friend of mine challenged me on some self-limiting beliefs and after a series of interviews I secured a role in an organisation which truly understands the complexity of being a working mum. If you’d like to have a safe space to explore any of these areas with a qualified coach, please do get in touch. I am looking forward to hearing from you
